A meyhane is a traditional restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages with meze, tapas, and other traditional foods. The history of the meyhane culture started in the Byzantine Empire and still continues in Istanbul and other seaside cities where merchants used to stop.
Inspiration & application
Decorative patterns and ornaments from Iznik dishes and tiles were a significant part of the culture.
Meyhane embraces these patterns and uses them in monochrome extensions to show its origins.
